OLEIA, RIPE FOR ROMANCE
A quiet morning: I see the vine
maples in their finest fall colors outside my window.
Inside, I’m working on MYTHS, Chapter 21—establishing a connection between
Hippomenes and his relatives on Mount Helicon…which brings me to Oleia again—a lithe,
lovely sixteen year-old, ripe for romance.
She’s excited because of a rumor that Hippomenes is riding his horse to her father's
annual Olive Festival at Clear Blue Lake and there’s never been a horse on Poseidon’s mountain
before, at least not in her lifetime.
