First paragraph (unless I change it): When Pierus, the Magnesian guide, returned from the Search for Pegasus with a wingless, doe-eyed mare that couldn’t fly and did nothing but graze, Macedon saw only the folly that comes from chasing after myths, and when Pierus’s unfortunate dalliance with Methone became obvious, Macedon advised him to leave Macedonia and to take the horse with him. Pierus went to the north side of Mount Olympus where he made an alliance with one of Paeone’s royal women and there, he fathered nine long-limbed, blue-eyed daughters of the Giant race. In time, the mare and her stallion colt produced the first known domesticated equine herd since the passing of the comet, and the daughters of Pierus coddled them, loved them, climbed up on their backs and rode them, and flew across the meadows like Peleus of Old. What a sight to see!
