End of chapter 2: Urana sits in the moonlight,
gazing down at Clear Blue
Lake …. Could any place be lovelier? She wonders about
Calypso and Cephisus and suddenly, out of nowhere, the words of the wild man
below the falls flashes through her mind: “Beware, daughter of Poseidon, lest
the evil Titans destroy you.”
She shivers, shaking the thought away. She had
never met the man before—nor could she imagine that he’d ever seen her. “Don’t
put your trust in something that doesn’t meet your eyes,” her Grandmother
Europa often said. “Believe only in what you see.”
Still, one small fact
about the encounter with the Prophet from Kabera haunts Urana: How could he
have known that she was the daughter of Poseidon if they’d never met before?”
